Lord Westbrook

This is my 'L' post for the Spanking A-Z Blog Challenge. "What's that?" you ask. Check out my page here for more information and a list of all the wonderful bloggers taking part.

Lord Robert Westbrook
(Well, actually it's Byron but you, know he can be Lord Westbrook in my head. He's got the frowning right)

The character Lord Westbrook made his initial appearance in my second book Lady Westbrook's Discovery as the elder son of widowed Lady Westbrook.

His main role in the book is to grumpily disapprove of his mother's marriage to a much younger man. Felix Oliver, his mother's soon-to-be-husband considers Lord Westbrook to be a 'pompous twerp'.

I felt a bit sorry for grumpy Lord Westbrook though. I wanted to make him happy. So in my second Westbrook book, Lord Westbrook's Muse, I introduced him to beautiful and unconventional Cass and the two of them start a passionate affair. They have a few trials and tribulations to get through before they reach their Happily Ever After. But they get there in the end. And finally the grumpy old bugger cheers up a bit.

Robert woke the next morning feeling wonderful. He could not remember the last time he had slept so well.
Was it because of the time he had spent yesterday with Miss Glen? He rather thought it was. He had no idea what had possessed him to spank her the way he did. Well, clearly she had put the idea into his head but making her bend over the bed while he administered a spanking to her bare backside was clearly outrageous behaviour. He had shocked himself by doing it.
When he had concluded the spanking, his senses had come back to him. He looked at the girl bent over in front of him – practically a stranger, a houseguest of his mother’s for goodness sake and wondered what on earth he had done. When she had turned to face him from her prostrate position over the footboard, he had expected to see retribution in her eyes. Or fear. Instead her eyes were unmistakably full of pure lust. That had done for him. Even baser urges had taken over and he had ravished the poor girl, robbing her of her virginity in the process.
And yet... he hadn’t exactly taken her against her will. At every point she had willed him to continue. Had she put up any resistance, he would have stopped. And that comment about losing her virginity being expedient... it was as though she had intended the whole thing to happen.
He didn’t know whether he was supposed to feel anger at her manipulation or guilt at his own but in fact he felt neither of those things. He felt happy. It was such an odd sensation that he wasn’t even sure what to make of it. He didn’t want to question the happy glow of warmth he felt inside, in case it should cause it to go entirely.

Come for the grumpiness. Stay for the spankings.

Smut by the Sea

Last weekend, I went to my third Smut event, Smut by the Sea in Scarborough.

According to event organiser, Kev Blisse, Scarborough is the "spiritual home of smut". I believe they put that on the tourist information brochures these days.

I'll tell you something else about Scarborough, It's really, really far up North. I'm very much a Southerner. I consider anywhere north of London to be "The North." A while back one of those quizzes circulated round Facebook asking "How Northern are you?" I answered the questions and got back the result that I was 0% Northern. That seemed fair.

It's not like I think there's anything wrong with The North. I don't consider you to be backward or primitive or anything. I fully respect your commitment to "speaking as you find" (as opposed to our southern custom of "being polite") but I do tend to think of the North as being strange and foreign and populated with people with funny accents and odd notions regarding what time of day 'dinner' should be served.

Although, Yorkshire's contribution to food cannot be underestimated.
But you know, I'd had such lovely times at previous Smut events in Manchester and Luton, that I was more than happy to make the trip up to Yorkshire in order to do it all again.

Victoria and Kev Blisse (along with their close family members and their close family member's dog) are the tireless organisers of the Smut events. I am completely in awe of the amount of work they must put in to make these things happen.

This particular event was held in the rooms above Scarborough library. Anyone entering Scarborough library last Saturday would have seen a bunch of signs saying "Smut" with arrows directing them upstairs. I'm surprised that we didn't find ourselves gatecrashed by a herd of inquisitive twelve year olds following the "Smut" signs like cartoon characters following a particular delicious smell.

There were some great workshops. Jennifer Denys gave a workshop on writing about werewolves in erotic fiction. She started off the discussion by writing "Doggy-style Sex" on a flip chart and then asking the audience what other advantages we could name by having lycanthropic heroes. Personally, I just like to think that Jennifer always writes "Doggy-style Sex" as the first item every time she writes on a flip chart. Regardless of context.

There was also an interesting workshop given by Slave Nano on historical research. Given that I primarily write historical fiction, this sort of thing just makes me worry that I am Not Taking Research Seriously Enough. I tend to have a cavalier attitude to research and assume that as long as I don't give my characters iPhones, it's probably OK. I believe the writers of  BBC's The Tudors were of a similar opinion.

Their Xbox is just out of shot.
As always, the reading slams provided a great opportunity to hear a huge variety of different kinds of smutty fiction across all genres and with varying levels of filth. Once again, my Kindle 'to read' list just got a whole lot longer. There were too many great writers to name check all of them here but I will certainly be checking out Jacqui Brocker and Helen J Perry's books soon. As always, the lovely Bella Settara looked delightful and was dressed in character for her book reading - on this occasion as a very sexy cowgirl.

I read a bit from my second book Lady Westbrook's Discovery. I was more than usually nervous before doing so as I was reading it from my Kindle and had remembered far too late in the day that my Kindle had been acting up lately and skipping ahead pages without warning which would be slightly problematic in a reading out loud scenario. Really should have got round to printing out my excerpt beforehand. But my Kindle behaved impeccably when it mattered and I now love it dearly in an entirely non-sexual way. Oh who am I kidding? My Kindle is 99% porn. Our relationship is entirely sexual.

There was plenty else going on at Smut by the Sea including a burlesque act and an awesome bit of entertainment from the astonishingly beautiful Bea Noir, a bed of nails and (briefly) a cucumber.

The cucumber did not fare well.
It was - as to be expected in the spiritual home of smut - a thoroughly enjoyable day. I even went for a paddle in the sea at lunch time because I do very much love the sea even if it meant I spent the whole of the afternoon with very sandy tights.

Not that kind of paddle.

There are far better write ups than mine which you should go and check out - ones with proper pictures and everything. Have a look at Slave Nano, Jennifer Denys and Jacqui Brocker's blogs to find out more about this excellent - and altogether smutty - event.

And, in case you are worried, I did successfully manage to get my way back down South again afterwards.

Saturday Spankings - “I’m like a dowdy, old maid.”

Birthday spanks!
You know how ladies over a certain age refuse to acknowledge their age? I have never been one of those ladies. It's my birthday next Wednesday. I LOVE birthdays,  I'm going to be 41. My forties have so far been totally fucking awesome. I fully expect them to get better,

In fact any of you who are in commutable distance of my house (in the general vicinity of London)  on the 25th March should get in touch. There will be tea and cake and chat and booze and stuff. (Email me ettastark@hotmail.com.

I don't, I realise, have any birthday-related snippets in my books. I do, however have an excerpt from the end of Lady Westbrook's discovery where our heroine ruminates on her own mortality.Nobody wants to grow old.

She climbed into the large bathtub, sitting in front of him and leaning back onto his firm chest.
“I’m afraid the bathwater’s not that hot any more,” said Felix. “It was a lot hotter earlier before you tempted me with your wanton desires.”
Margaret laughed. “I think you’ll find that you were quite happy to – Oh no!” The last two words were said with such a tone of distress that Felix felt his heart immediately begin to quicken.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Look!” Margaret held up her hands a couple of inches apart, the thumb and forefinger of each hand were pinched as though she were holding something thin and invisible.
“What am I looking at here, exactly?”
“It’s a grey hair!”

Felix peered closer. Sure enough held between the fingers of each hand was a single strand of silvery white hair. He chuckled.
“Don’t laugh!” snapped Margaret crossly, hitting behind her in Felix’s general direction, causing the water to splash around them both. “I’m like a dowdy, old maid.”

2014: Thank you and F**k you

I hate New Year. Stupid, made-up, melancholy festival that it is. I have recently decided to ignore the bloody thing altogether but that gets tricky when you spend the evening browsing Facebook and everything’s all “End of 2014! Beginning of 2015!”

Oh fuck the fuck off.
Maybe it’s my inner Pagan but I think that the New Year should start in Spring. It used to, you know. That’s why Aries is the first horoscope sign. Late-ish March (coincidentally around my birthday) is the proper time to celebrate New Year as far as I am concerned and you can take your Gregorian Calendar and your de facto international standards for dates  and shove them up your arse.

Aries.
So little of this picture makes sense
If I have resolutions to make, I’m doing it in Spring. Or possibly Autumn. That  always feels like a good time of year to make changes – presumably because the school year starts then and that “New Term! New Start!” mentality gets seared into your brain at an impressionable age.

You know when the worst time to make resolutions is? A week after fucking Christmas when we still have the worst of winter to get through. That’s when.

Always Winter and never Christmas, you say, CS Lewis?
We have a word for that: January!

And I hate the idea of taking stock of the previous year. “What did you achieve in the last twelve months?” Fuck off. Admittedly, while I may have in previous years had every reason to be angry about this question, my anger this year may be somewhat misplaced. Because, by any possible measure, this has been a corkingly good year for me.

  • I published my first (and second, third and fourth) spanky romance books.
  • I finally got onto the property ladder (which is no mean feat for a single parent living in the most insanely expensive area of the UK outside London).
  • I got my bloody degree! And a 2:1 at that! I can still scarcely believe it. Seriously, no-one gets a first. It’s literally a myth. A 2:1 is everything I ever dreamed of degree-wise. I have booked  all my graduation gubbins for next March. Tickets for my daughter and my parents? Check. Hire stupid-looking gown and hood? Check. Book photographer to do both individual and family shots of me looking stupid in my gown and holding a rolled-up bit of paper pretending to be my degree? Checkity-check. I can't wait.
And there was another thing that was rather marvellous at the time but now that it’s over, is probably contributing significantly to my melancholic mood. I thought I was going to talk about it when I started this post. On reflection, I realise I won’t be.

I'll acknowledge it was a good year. But you know, I’m still not happy with where my life’s at, right now. There’s some significant stuff I want to achieve in 2015. Luckily, I made a wish when I was stirring my Christmas Pudding so the main life-changing thing will definitely happen.

Honestly, Christmas-pudding-stirring wishes are the most reliable wishes ever. They’re even better than Birthday Cake wishes. This is based on at least ten years of research where I think all of my wishes have come true. Christmas Pudding wishes are  totally cast iron. So much so that next year, I’m going to wish for a glow in the dark unicorn that shits gold doubloons instead of wishing for stuff that will inevitably happen in the next 12 months anyway as I have previously been doing.

The flame mostly burns on MAGIC

So yeah, 2014, you were probably a brilliant year for me but right now I feel too bloody grumpy to acknowledge it.

Raises virtual glass. “To 2014. Thank you and fuck you.”

Happy Halloween!

So the other day, I gave the cover of my latest book, Lord Westbrook's Muse a bit of a Halloween makeover.  Then I felt a bit bad for all my other ladies. I didn't want Cass to be the only one enjoying the spooky fun.

So here you go, all three of my heroines on all three of my book covers getting into the Halloween spirit.

Lord Westbrook's Vamp

Lady Westbrook's Devilment

His Lordship's Apprentice Witch
Have a Happy Halloween, everyone! Or have a Hideous Halloween or a Horrible Halloween if you prefer your season a little darker (but still with alliteration, natch).

Saturday Spankings - "No finer sight"

Saturday Spankurday!

Following on from last week, here is an excerpt from my forthcoming book, Lord Westbrook's Muse, a sort-of sequel to Lady Westbrook's Discovery. Lord Westbrook is taken aback by the words "You could punish me" from Cass, the young lady with whom he is talking.

Robert’s memory had immediately taken him back to his days in the army. Robert’s commanding officer – when he was in his cups – would often regale Robert with stories of the discipline that he administered to his young wife whenever he was at home on leave.
There was no finer sight he said than to have a beautiful girl bent over your lap with her bare buttocks presented to you awaiting a vigorous spanking with a leather strap.
It was a conversation that Robert had given much thought to over the years – particularly on those occasions when he was on his own and in need of... relief.
His mind had immediately conjured up an image of Cass laying across his lap in such a fashion, awaiting whatever punishment he would choose to administer to her exposed backside.

Lord Westbrook's Muse is a standalone book and you won't need to read Lady Westbrook's Discovery first to enjoy it. But you should read Lady Westbrook's Discovery anyway, you know. You'd like it.

Meet Lord Westbrook here. He's the grumpy one.

Saturday Spankings - "Would you punish me in that manner if we were married?"

This week's Saturday Spanking is going to be a hastily cobbled together affair  due to the fact that I might have accidentally gone out this evening and got drunk on Pernod-based cocktails.

This week's excerpt follows on from the previous weeks'. Lady Westbrook's first spanking is over. What now?

Margaret pushed herself up from the desk. Her hair was in disarray and her face was flushed pink. Her hands instinctively went to her bottom in an attempt to temper the pain.
She looked up at Mr Oliver and was initially surprised to see that his expression was one of anxiety. Of course, she thought, this was a test, after all. He wants to know that he has passed.
“So,” she said, her voice wavering and shaky despite her best efforts to control it. “You would punish me in that manner if we were married?”
“Yes. If we both agreed that you deserved it.”
Margaret took Felix Oliver’s hands in hers. “Well then. I hope that you do not find it necessary to punish me too often.”

Not coming up with a caption this week. Will use any spare time for sleep instead.

Saturday Spankings - Getting out of breath

Happy Spankurday!

The other week, you may recall I was moaning about how I spent every work day counting down the hours until the weekend and how sometimes I would get so bored at work that I would go and sit in the toilets just for a change of scenery.

Well for anyone who's slightly interested (or excessively interested - maybe you have an Etta Stark spreadsheet you like to keep updated), I handed in my notice this week having accepted a shiny new job elsewhere for more money. The really exciting part is that I have three and half weeks off in between jobs which is especially handy given that I have three (count 'em!) works in progress at the moment and twenty five days untinterrupeted by the pesky timesuck that is paid employment sounds pretty damn heavenly.

But hey! You don't come here to have to listen to my employment updates (apart from you spreadsheet-updating ones obviously. You're a bit weird, though), you come here for a eight sentence spanking snippet! And that's just what you're going to get.

Continuing on directly from last week, Felix Oliver has just given Lady Westbrook (of Lady Westbrook's Discovery) her very first spanking. The experience has had a marked effect on them both...

At last, the rain of spanks ended. Mr Oliver stepped back as though admiring his work. Although of course he could see nothing of the results of his labours, the marks being hidden by Margaret’s skirt and petticoats.
Margaret was breathing heavily from the exertion. She felt as though she had climbed a mountain. Her throbbing backside burned red hot. She could hear Mr Oliver breathing heavily as well although she was not sure if that was from the physical exertion of administering her punishment or from some other cause.
“You can get up now,” he said.

Buy it now!
In fact if enough of you do it, I promise to quit my day job in a spectacular fashion.

Saturday Spankings - Finishing off with a hand spanking

Happy weekend! I hope you are all as excited about the weekend as I am! Lots of spanky fun for everyone!

Sorry if I have been neglecting the blog a bit lately but rest assured, it's because I have been concentrating on writing book stuff rather than blog stuff so it'll work out OK in the end.

We return to Lady Westbrook's Discovery and the spanking that Felix Oliver is giving the woman he has just proposed to over her own writing desk. He's just applied ten swats with a ruler to her covered bottom (because he is a gentleman and they are not even engaged yet). He's not yet finished spanking her just yet, though.

Having laid down the ruler, Mr Oliver now resumed spanking Margaret using his hand. The swats were hard but not extraordinarily so.
He was clearly not using his full force, nor did he lift his arm as high in the air as he had when delivering the blows with the ruler. Rather, he spanked her bottom quickly and thoroughly, covering every square inch of her backside. Margaret found that the pain in her bottom was being diffused.
Each blow from his hand caused a shudder of pain as it connected with her already marked bottom but the pain itself had changed. It was no longer concentrated on separate stripes and instead her entire bottom was suffused with a warm – if very achy – glow.

Go on. Buy Lady Westbrook's Discovery.
It'll be the best thing you ever purchased, I promise you.
(Provided you've purchased relatively few things in your life and you've been disappointed with most of them.)

Happy Birthday Emmeline Pankhurst!

I love Google Doodles. There you are just getting on with your day deciding to google 'Node.js libraries' or '1950s wizard spanking' or whatever (depending where you are at the time) and Google furnishes you with a cool little gift that didn't even ask for.

The doodles have all been a bit football-obsessed lately (but then hasn't everybody?) but now that's all done and dusted we could enjoy something a bit more historical and bit more votes-for-womeny - The 156th birthday of Emmeline Pankhurst, political activist and leader of the British suffragette movement.

So happy birthday Mrs Pankhurst! The road to female emancipation has been a long and convoluted one and, internationally, we aren't there yet, but thank you Emmeline Pankhurst you were a huge part of the process of obtaining universal suffrage.

The Suffragist Movement is something that crops up in my last book, Lady Westbrook's Discovery and in my current work in progress which is a sort of sequel. Both are set in the 1870s. The National Society for Women's Suffrage was created in 1868 long before Emmeline Pankhurst began campaigning. It's actually rather sad that for all her enthusiasm, my character Margaret won't be able to enjoy equal voting rights with men until she's 99 years old.

So let's celebrate Emmeline Pankhurst's birthday with a rousing chorus of 'Sister Suffragette' from Mary Poppins which incidentally was my friends and my drinking song of choice as teenagers.

Glynis Johns plays Winifred Banks - a lovely lady but terrible example to all right-thinking feminists everywhere. "Put these things away, you know how The Cause upsets Mr Banks."

And while we're singing, let's appreciate how far we've come and how delighted Mrs Pankhurst would be to see that to our daughters the idea of women having equal rights with men could be summed up with "Well duh! Of course" and to whom the idea of women being second class citizens is entirely laughable.

Yay Emmeline Pankhurst! Yay Equal Rights for Women! Yay Feminism! Yay us!

Spanking Romance reviews my book!

The delightful and (almost certainly) fragrant Katherine Deane has written such a lovely review of Lady Westbrook's Discovery on Spanking Romance Reviews that I have half a mind to print out a couple of dozen copies and post it through all my neighbour's letterboxes.

On the off-chance that (a) you don't live within 10 yards of my house and (b) I don't actually do that anyway, you should head immediately over to Spanking Romance Reviews and read it there.

And then - if you haven't already, you should buy the book itself. Because as Katherine says "This story was hilarious and sexy, and quite unique among the spanking romance stories I have read." And you better listen to her, she's a dude who knows what she's talking about.

Much like Rufus

Saturday Spankings - "I haven't finished yet."

If you listen to BBC Radio 4's Today programme in the mornings, then you'll know that on Friday mornings David Dimbleby always drops by to mention who the guests are going to be on that evening's Any Questions. It always cheers me up when this happens. Not because I ever listen to Any Questions. Not because I get excited by the sound of Jonathan Dimbleby's voice. But because it's a confirmation that it is indeed Friday at last. That the weekend is very almost here.

Saturday Spankings now evokes a similar feeling in me. If I'm selecting eight spanky sentences, inserting that picture of the be-suited, very focused spanker and his permanently surprised spankee and writing these words to accompany them... then it must be the weekend! Hurrah!

I don't hate my job exactly. I just find it both boring and stressful. Often, I find myself making extra trips to the lavatory just to break my day up and offer a change of scenery. The dream would be to write full-time but that's not viable at the moment. Maybe now would be a good time to find some new employment.

In the meantime I shall enjoy the next two whole days to do exactly what I want to do - which includes a bit of house-buying stuff, working my way through the SatSpanks list,  a lot of work-in-progressing and, of course, attending Katherine Deane's Coach's Discipline Launch Party over on Facebook tomorrow.

And now those eight or so sentences of spanky goodness I promised you. Another snippet from Lady Westbrook's Discovery, this one follows directly on from last week. Lady Westbrook is bent over the desk in her writing room having just received ten swats with wooden ruler from her suitor, Mr Oliver. It's not over yet...

Mr Oliver laid down the ruler on the top of the desk and, thinking the punishment over, Margaret made to get up from her prone position.
“Don’t move,” said Oliver quietly. “I haven’t finished yet.” He gently pushed her down over the desk, his hand on the small of her back.
A wave of panic coursed through Margaret. There was more? Already her bottom throbbed with pain. She felt the sting of each of those ten spanks crisscrossing her backside. She didn't think she could take further punishment.
Nevertheless, she resolved to remain where she was and not to make any protest. It was at her request that this spanking was taking place after all; it wouldn't do to back out of the arrangement at this stage.

Lady Westbrook's Discovery. Buy it now!
Or, you know, in ten minutes time. Whatever works for you.

Synopsis
Lady Margaret Westbrook is a forty-one year old widow who has not given romance a second thought in the ten years since her husband passed away. When she meets Felix Oliver, a brilliant scientist fifteen years her junior, she is surprised by his determination to win her heart. Lady Westbrook discovers a passion within herself that she never knew existed.
However, accepting Felix Oliver's proposal will mean relinquishing her title, lowering her social standing and risking both the gossip of polite society and the disapproval of her grown-up sons. Not only that but he has made it clear that he is a firm believer in corporal punishment for women and that consenting to be his wife will mean frequent trips across his lap for a sound spanking. How far is Lady Westbrook willing to go on this journey of discovery?

Saturday Spankings - Lady Westbrook's first spanking - continued

Happy Weekend, everybody! I hope all my American readership had a wonderful time celebrating July 4th. Letting off fireworks and stuff in remembrance of that time Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman defeated those aliens that wanted to take over the planet. Yay for independence from slimy-looking aliens! I'm all for it.

So, it's a return to normal after the heady excitement that was the A-Z Spanking blog challenge. There's always Saturday Spankings of course. It's nice to have some things you can rely on.

In the below snippet, Lady Westbrook is receiving her first ever spanking at the hands of her suitor, Felix Oliver. He is not being particularly gentle with her.

Mr Oliver got into position behind her and brought the wooden ruler down on her bottom with great force. Margaret screamed out loud from the pain and from the shock of the impact. She had never been spanked before in her life. The pain was extraordinary.
He brought the ruler down on her bottom a half dozen more times. Each stroke hit her bottom with a muffled thwack as it connected with her skirts - the force of the blow ensuring that the impact was felt keenly on Margaret’s backside beneath.
“Three more I think,” said Mr Oliver, taking a step back and then raising the ruler high before bringing it down hard on Margaret’s rump. He repeated the action two more times – landing the blows on the lowest part of her backside where her bottom connected to her thighs. Each time the ruler connected with her body, Margaret felt a jolt of pain like she had never experienced before.

Z is for Zzzzzzzzz

And Zaturday Zpankings

This post is part of the Spanking A-Z Blog Challenge. What's that I hear you ask? Check out my page here for more information.
I made it. I took on Celeste Jones' crazy challenge and I somehow made it to the finish line. Twenty-six vaguely alphabet-themed posts starting at Authenticity and finishing at Zzzzzzz via bananas, Sherlock Holmes, flip flops, vampires and all manner of other things that non-spankophiles probably didn't even realise could be related to spanking.

My most popular posts this month by far were Q is for Quiz and G is for Go and buy my new book now. Go on! which just goes to show that what the public really want are quizzes and being shouted at to buy things. Something I suspect the producers of daytime television have known for years.

Daytime television is a frightening place.

I didn't realise when I signed up for this challenge, quite what an insanely busy month this would turn out to be,

June has been exhausting.

Aside from the normal day job (with a Big Project deadline of 4th July), I'm still plugging away at my Computer Science degree. The assignment I had to do mid-June was on web services exchange protocols which might be the dullest I thing I have ever had to deal with. (Assignment due in next week is SQL-based and much more fun). In addition to that, my daughter had her A-Levels, I started the stressful process of buying a house and on the 12th June, my wonderful almost-20-year-old cat, Corrie went to sleep for the last time, leaving a far bigger hole than seems possible for such a tiny scrap of fur and bossiness.

I am glad I decided to do the A-Z Spanking Blog Challenge, though. It has been fun and I have had some great responses to my random-arse postings. Thank you, Celeste for organising it.

I have loved the posts that other participants have put together for this challenge.

Highlights include Casey McKay drunkenly eulogising the joys of anal to friends, Renee Rose's husband getting strict about grassfed beef purchases and, of course, Katherine Deane interviewing all five sons of Johnny Hastings which I may have already mentioned is the best thing on the whole internet.

There are so many more A-Z Spanking Challenge posts that I haven't yet had a chance to read. I totally intend to catch up now I'm finished with my posts and life becomes just a little less tiring.

But first, I think I need to catch up on some sleep. Wake me up when it's August.

My snippet comes from Lady Westbrook's Discovery and is vaguely related to sleeping. When Margaret Westbrook married her second husband, a dashing young scientist fifteen years her junior, she discovered a whole host of new experiences that she hadn't ever experienced with her late husband, Lord Westbrook. Spankings, obviously. And all manner of sexual shenanigans. But also, sharing a bed with one's husband. Not something that the nobility were given to do as a rule but something that Margaret found she liked very much indeed. Particularly given that waking up in the same bed as your enthusiastically loving husband can have obvious perks...
Margaret slept against Felix, his muscular body spooning her slender one, his arms wrapped around her. As she woke the next morning, she savoured the feeling of his warm body pressed against hers, his face buried in her hair.
His chest was against her back and his groin pressed lightly against her bottom. She wriggled against him contentedly and felt his manhood bob to attention against her backside. “You awake?” she asked softly.
“Partly.”
“Mm. I can feel one part in particular that seems to be up.”
Lady Westbrook's Discovery is available from Amazon and all good booksellers. Also, some evil ones.

Saturday Spankings - Across The Desk

I am taking a day off from the A-Z Spanking Blog Challenge because I missed a day earlier in the week and now my days are all out of whack. But it will resume tomorrow with T is for a Taste of Loving Discipline - the new book from Abigail Armani.

For Saturday Spankings, I am carrying on from where I left off on my "G is for Go and buy my new book now, Go on" post earlier this month.

It's from my book Lady Westbrook's Discovery. Felix Oliver has just proposed to Lady Margaret Westbrook who is fifteen years older than him. Knowing that Mr Oliver intends to spank her when necessary once they are married, she has requested that he give her a spanking now by way of a demonstration so that she might know what she is letting herself in for. They have repaired to her writing room...

Mr Oliver moved some of the items which were on Margaret’s desk to one side so that there was an expanse of empty space in the middle. He picked up a wooden ruler and smacked it ominously against his other hand.
“Lean over the desk,” he instructed her. “Stretch right across so that your hands are holding on to the far edge.”
Margaret did as she was directed. Her arms and head rested on the desk below the level of her bottom which was raised in the air as though for inspection.

She wondered what would happen if she refused to submit. Curiously, she found that she didn’t want to find out. As terrified as she was at the thought of a spanking, she was determined to go through with it.
Grab your copy now!
(Metaphorically of course, it is an e-book)

N is for Nightie

Or Nightgown or nightdress or nightrobe - whatever you choose to call it. It’s what decorous ladies wear to protect their modesty in the bedroom. And my young ladies are always decorous - at least to start off with. Though to be fair, they tend to get divested of their nightgowns fairly quickly.

This week’s Saturday Spankings excerpt comes from my latest book Lady Westbrook’s Discovery.

Margaret, the former Lady Westbrook, has had her nightgown forcibly ripped off her by her husband while he was administering a thorough disciplinary spanking with a leather strap.

The spanking is over, the air has been cleared and bridges have been mended. Margaret is feeling relaxed enough to bemoan the destruction of her nightwear.
“My poor nightie,” she said. “It’s completely beyond repair.”

Felix looked unrepentant. “It was in the way. I couldn’t get to your bottom properly. It had to go.”
“You could have just removed it.”

“If I’d thought of it before I tied you to the bed post, then yes, I could have. As it happens, I hadn’t really thought that far ahead.”

Margaret giggled. “You hadn’t thought through the logistics at all, had you? I thought you had one of the top scientific minds in the country.”

She immediately found herself pulled over Felix’s lap, a volley of spanks raining down on her already sore and bruised backside.

“Right, madam,” said Felix. “That was for your impertinence. Do you have any more comments to make about the quality of my spanking technique? Because I’m perfectly happy to repeat the whole process if you think I could do with the practice.”

L is for Lady Westbrook's Discovery

This post is part of the Spanking A-Z Blog Challenge. What's that I hear you ask? Check out my page here for more information.
As I may have mentioned once or twice before, I have a new book out. Lady Westbrook's Discovery is my second book (and my favourite but don't tell His Lordship's Apprentice that. I don't want them fighting.)

Set in England in 1870, it is about a 41 year-old widow, Lady Margaret Westbrook who meets a charming young scientist, Felix Oliver, when he comes to her house to give a lecture on electricity to the members of the Waverley Ladies Society.

She has put all notions of romance far behind her so when Felix - a man 15 years her junior - proposes to court her, she refuses to entertain the idea. They agree to become friends instead and at the time of the excerpt below, Felix has just spent an agreeable few days as Margaret's friend and house guest. But he loves her. And settling for friendship was never going to work as a long term solution...

"I should be delighted to visit you whenever you will have me, Lady Westbrook. I am glad to have you as a friend.”

“And I you. Since you have put your ridiculous and unthinkable notion of courtship behind you and we can move on from that silliness...”

“Silliness?” said Felix before he could stop himself. Don’t say a word, he chided himself. You intended to come here as a friend not a suitor. He took a sip of his drink and counted to ten. “Oh dash it all,” he said as he realised that he was just going to plough ahead anyway.

“Lady Westbrook,” he said, “you put me in a difficult position. I had resolved not to do this as I had no wish to offend you further. But then you used words like ‘unthinkable’ and ‘silliness’, and I feel that I must speak up. I assure you that I was quite, quite serious. My feelings have not changed in that regard. In fact, our time together over the last few days has just served to convince me further that you are the person with whom I would wish to spend the rest of my life.”

Felix set down his drink and dropped to one knee in front of Lady Westbrook. She raised her hands to her mouth, her eyes widening in alarm.

“Lady Westbrook, would you do me the great honour of consenting to be my wife?”

Lady Westbrook stood speechless in front of him.

Well done, old man, he said to himself. You’ve really done it now. So much for deciding that you’d be happy to accept her friendship. She’ll probably never want to see you again after this.

“Are you serious?” Lady Westbrook asked.

“I assure you I have never been more so.”

“Marriage?”

“Yes.”

“To me?”

“Of course.”

“But why?”

“Because I love you, of course.”

“But marriage .... it’s unthinkable.”

“Mm. You used that word before. I don’t find it unthinkable, at all. In fact I find it remarkably easy to think about. The thought of you becoming my wife is, I confess, something I think about rather a lot.”
“But it’s so ridiculous! You’re half my age.”

Felix laughed. “No I’m not. Call yourself an adherer of scientific methods? You should be a bit more exact in your mathematics, then. If you were twice my age, you would be 52 and you are a long way off that, still.”
Lady Westbrook started pacing around the conservatory in an agitated state. Felix stood from his kneeling position and watched as she took her handkerchief and twisted it anxiously between her fingers.

“Forty-one or fifty-two, what difference does it make? I’m far too old for you. You should marry a young woman with whom you can start a family.”

“I have no wish to start a family. I am wholly indifferent to the idea of having children. Luckily, coming from a large family myself, there is no expectation on me to produce an heir to the Earldom. I was already eighth in line for the position when I was born. My brothers’ ever increasing families have pushed me down to something like twenty-fifth in the pecking order. Even if by some extraordinary twist of fate my armies of brothers, nephews and nieces prove insufficient, my two sisters and their numerous children are right behind me. Believe me when I say that not having children will not be a problem.”

“Speaking of heirs, this is Robert’s home, you know. It’s the family seat and belongs to the current Lord Westbrook. To be honest, the idea of my moving out has never been discussed, but I could hardly carry on living here with a new husband.”

“We’d find somewhere new to live. I am doing all right for myself, what with lectures and the books I’ve published. I live well below my means at present. It might not be quite the splendour to which you’ve been accustomed, but I think I could keep you very comfortably.”

“You would keep me? Of course, I must always rely on a man to keep me. First my father, then my husband, now my son. And next, you.”

Felix felt his heart lift a little at these words. She really did sound like she was considering the idea even if she was being belligerent about it.

“Do you not like my talking of keeping you? I could send you out to work to earn your keep if it would make you happier. And would vacating Westbrook Manor be so bad? Surely, Lord Westbrook will be taking a wife himself soon enough and will expect to move back here.”

“Well yes, I hadn’t planned to stay here once Robert returned from the army. I don’t want to move away entirely though. Waverley is my home.”

“I would be more than happy to live in Waverley,” said Felix. “In fact, Colonel Huffington told me yesterday that he will be putting his house on the market as he intends to return to live in India. Would that house suit you?”

“Oh it’s not just the house. The boys would be horrified by the idea of my marrying a man not much older than them. And what would other people in the neighbourhood say? There would be a scandal.”

She had paced to the end of the conservatory, reached the back wall and turned round. Felix followed her there and they now stood face-to-face. He put a steadying hand on each of her shoulders.

“I don’t believe for a moment that you are worried about what the busybodies of Waverley will think. Let them be scandalised.”

Lady Westbrook stood still; she had stopped frantically twisting her handkerchief. She stared back at him.
“I don’t need to get married,” she said quietly.

“No more do I. Let’s consider what we want instead.”

Their eyes remained locked for several minutes. It seemed to Felix that time had stopped entirely.

“Would you beat me if we were married?” she said.

“What?” Whatever he had been expecting her to say next, it wasn’t that.

“The first time we met, you told me that you thought it a good idea for men to spank their wives. You said that if I were your wife, you would spank me.”

“I haven’t forgotten.”

“Of course I thought you were speaking entirely rhetorically at the time. It’s funny how things turn out. So, tell me, would you expect physical discipline to be part of our marriage?”

Felix spoke quietly but without hesitation. “Yes I would.”

“Very well. Then before I can decide whether or not to accept your proposal, I need to understand precisely what I am letting myself in for.”

“You want to be spanked?”

“I need to know what to expect if you decide to punish me. I think the only way for me to ascertain that would be for you to carry out such a punishment this evening.”

Felix’s heart hammered in his ribcage. She had laid down a challenge and he was damned well going to be man enough to accept it.

“Very well,” he said. “But not here in the conservatory. Do you have a study?”

“I have my writing room.”

“That sounds ideal. Take me there.”
