Quoting bits of my favourite spanking romance stories

This is my 'Q' post for the Spanking A-Z Blog Challenge. "What's that?" you ask. Check out my page here for more information and a list of all the wonderful bloggers taking part.

I imagine anyone who reads my blog is a fan of spanky romance stories. If you're not, you're probably continually confused about the sort of stuff I write about here. "What the hell?" you must ask yourself. "I just came here for an update on the cricket scores. Why is this woman always going on about bare bottom over-the-knee spankings?"

Just go with it. It's delightful.

I love a spanky romance, and some spanky romances I love so much that I'll return to favourite passages on more than one occasion. Here are some of my favourites.

Geneva DeCroix - Jesslina Meets Lord Piers

Lady's Maid Part 1
This was one of the first erotic spanking books I bought on my Kindle. I loved the story of feisty barmaid Jesslina who has a particularly bad day at work when some poor judgement on her part results in titled landowner, Lord Piers, and his drinking companions getting drenched in beer.
Lord Piers stood and wiped at the ale, which  stained his very expensive clothing. "I've found, Bruns, when a servant of mine is forgetting their place, a dose of the strap often helps. One can't go dismissing a girl for every little error, especially a girl as pretty as this," he said. He reached out and brushed the back of his hand along Jess's cheek.
Bruns started. "But sir, she's a grown woman. I can't strap her like a naughty child."
"Oh but you must. For her own sake and for yours. How will she learn what you expect of her if you don't discipline her?"
Spanking - as you've probably already guessed - ensues.

Renee Rose - Loving Lucia

Loving Lucia

This book was one of my earliest introductions to Renee Rose's wonderful romances. Lucia has been given some misleading (and apparently quite graphic) advice from her servants about to how best to please her husband Marco Donarati, the Count of Parma on their wedding night.
She hesitated just a little before she leaned forward and put her mouth over the tip. He made a low growling sound and shuddered.

Careful not to touch him too much with her teeth, she took him a little farther into her mouth, and then slid him out and tried again. There was a slight salty taste. She tried folding her lips over her teeth, and slid him in and out of her mouth that way, her mouth making a tight sheath around his girth. From the way he jerked and groaned, it seemed to please him.

But before she could get much further with this new activity, he stopped her, putting a hand on her head and pulling out.

"Have you done this before, Lucia?" he asked in a strange, strangled voice.
There follows a bit of a disagreement between our two protagonists. Marco is concerned that his new wife appears to know the sexual techniques of a whore. Lucia is horrified by the suggestion that her new husband might think her anything other than a virgin and slaps his face for suggesting otherwise. Luckily it's soon cleared up once the couple talk things through. Oh and some over-the-knee spanking helps as well of course. It always does.

Annabel Joseph - Disciplining the Duchess

Disciplining the Duchess
Another favourite from back when I was reading erotic spanky romances before I'd ever considered writing one myself. I love awkward unconventional Harmony Barrett. I love how the stiff conventional Duke of Courtland doesn't mean to fall in love with her but does anyway. You know when you can't stop reading a book but you really don't want it to end? Yeah, that.
"When I see you like this..." Her hands were back to teasing at the folds of his cravat. "I... I do not not know what comes over me. I have the most... unladylike... thoughts."

Court came to a slow and bemused realisation. His wife was trying to seduce him - whether intentionally or innocently he did not know. He did not care.

"Untie it," he said in a low voice.

Her steady gaze flickered for a moment. She paused, then he felt her fingers working at the linen. "I hate to disturb it, it looks so lovely," she said as she placed the sapphire-tipped pin in his palm.

He slipped it into the pocket of his coat for his valet to find later. "Tell me about these unladylike thoughts."

Casey McKay - Cursed Waters

Cursed Waters
Cursed Waters is without doubt the very best zombie and spanking based romance ever written. Although that description does it a disservice. It's a very, very good work of fiction, regardless of genre (and the spanking/zombie fiction genre is a criminally neglected one in any case). And happily it comes with a good dose of zombies, spankings and a wonderfully believable romance between our heroes, Roxy and Trevor.
"Are you agreeing to stick with me?" He questioned her again. She nodded and let out an annoyed sigh. He slid his hand up the back of her leg, snaking up her shorts and taking her ass in his hand. "I won't hesitate to remind you," he said as he gave her cheek a squeeze.

"No way, you're not allowed to just spank me because you feel like it," she protested and pushed his hand away.

He smiled at her. "A natural disaster, a missing person, and strange people inexplicably roaming the sidewalks." Trevor pulled her close against him and placed a kiss on her lips. "We're in crisis mode, babe. Rules don't apply and I will spank your ass if you get out of line." He winked at her and sauntered across the room, stifling a laugh at her stunned expression.

The world might be ending, but he still knew how to tease.

Patricia Green - Eddie, My Love

Eddie, My Love
So imagine a future where fully immersive virtual reality holidays are a thing, like the holodeck on Star Trek: The Next Generation. And then imagine that a twenty-second century young woman has chosen to enjoy a virtual holiday in a 1950s film noir mystery and meets unbelievably sexy, hard boiled private detective, Eddie Strong. She doesn't know if he's a real person enjoying his own virtual holiday or a computer generated avatar. She falls for him, anyway, because Oh my God, why wouldn't you? The man's delicious.
He pulled out the chair and took a seat, patting his thighs.

"Over my lap."

June's voice was low and breathy as she said, "Eddie, we can do so many better things with my panties off, don't you think?"

It was hard to think, but Eddie did his best. "I agree but let's start with a spanking and see where it goes."

She immediately straightened and pouted. Her panties fell down to her ankles and she stepped out of them. "Fine. Have it your way."

"I intend to." He patted his thighs again.

Katherine Deane - The Coach's Discipline.
The Coach's Discipline
You wouldn't think I'd be able to relate to this book, given how it's all about physical fitness and whatnot. I don't understand sport. What does it do? Where's the end product? The closest I get to a fitness regime is tapping away at a keyboard. When future technology means I can finally get round to inputting stuff directly from my brain to my laptop, I won't even need to expend that amount of energy.

And despite this, despite being the least sportsiest person ever, I loved this story of runner, Claire Jacobs and her coach, Nick. They're just so bloody lovely together, you see.
"Do you need something else, Jacobs?"

She quickly shook her head, then nodded, then shrugged her shoulders with a huge sigh.

He let out a low chuckle and grinned. "Are you lying to me, young lady?"

Her eyes widened, and she bit her lip as she stammered, "Yes Sir?"

"Do you want me to spank you, Claire?"

Crimson stained her cheeks as she nodded a quick affirmation.

"All you had to do was ask." He smiled and pulled her to a standing position. "Bend over the table."

So there you go, six quotes from six spanky books I love. And I bet none of them will make it into the next edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations because there's no justice in the world. *

* Oh and also because my quotes are way too long for the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations so there's that too.

Book Review - The Coach's Discipline by Katherine Deane

Want to know more about the book review star rating system? Or find out what other books I've reviewed? Check out this page here.
First rule of Running Club. Nobody talks about Running Club.

  Five Stars!

The Coach's Discipline is an utterly lovely spanking story which tells the story of runner Claire Jacobs. It is set in a world of competitive off-road running, fitness coaching and Olympic tryouts which on the face of it, is not my cup of tea all. Cups of tea are my cups of tea.  Marathon training is something else entirely.

It turns out that my lack of interest in sport really wasn’t an impediment at all to my enjoying this book. Which is a relief because I am so not into sport. Not even slightly. I am always a bit baffled by how much people get into it to be honest. Not so much the doing of it – I appreciate that there’s endorphins, senses of achievement and self-worth, increased life-expectancy – you know if you’re into that sort of nonsense.

I don’t understand why people want to watch other people do it though. Not something I’ve felt the inclination to do, to be honest. The Olympics happened round these parts a couple of years ago and I managed to miss it entirely despite the fact that bits of it were happening a stone’s throw from where I’m sitting now. (Not a literal stone’s throw. Not if I were throwing, anyway. If we’d had stone-throwing teams at school, I would have been picked last.)

It did strike me before I started reading that a fitness trainer was very much the perfect guy for a BDSM-ish spanking book. Doms and personal trainers tick all the same boxes. They demand obedience; they push people as far as they can go while remaining conscious of their limits and they cause pain. Lots and lots of pain.

Also, there's this sort of thing.

Based, presumably on my horrific experience with PE teachers, I was expecting Claire’s coach, Nick Fox to be something of a monster. Turns out he’s actually a total sweetie. I mean sure he’s  all about barking commands, and enforcing discipline but his absolute devotion  to the girls in his running squad and especially towards Claire is so touching that I found myself wanting to reach into my Kindle and give him a  big hug.

I really love the author's writing style, particularly the way she handles the switches between Claire’s and Nick’s points of view. While Nick handles his and Claire’s relationship – both personal and professional - with a calm alpha authority which is a hot as hell, it’s lovely to hear his thought processes behind it including his own doubts and vulnerabilities.

They are such a cute couple.  Their banter is just adorable, particularly when Claire teases her man, although she usually has to pay the price for that. You know what I should include in these reviews? Some kind of spankings to things-that-aren’t-spankings ratio. Maybe like those traffic light food labels.

Some kind of kinky version of this.

That way you’d know at a glance if it was a straightforward romance with a couple of playful taps or one massive non-stop spankfest with no room for characterisation or plot development.

I don’t know how many spanking scenes there were in the book. There were a pretty good number and the spankings/things-that-aren’t-spankings ratio was absolutely perfect. There was a real heartfelt story here with Claire’s personal journey at the heart of it. There were some great secondary characters including the other girls form the running squad, Claire’s best friend Jenny and a mysterious guy called Oz who I’m hoping is going to get a book of his own at some point. Meanwhile, Katherine Deane includes lots of opportunities for Nick to bend Claire over something and give her the spanking she needs.

Claire’s not the easiest of girlfriends; she has lot of personal baggage including an emotionally abusive mother and a history of bulimia. Sometimes she needs encouragement, sometimes she needs discipline and sometimes she just needs someone to hold her and remind her to breathe. Nick is absolutely the perfect man to do that.

And while a lot of the sportsing references went sailing over my head, I did appreciate the book’s many references to movies - including quite a few with spanking-related themes. I love films. What I lack in any kind of fitness regime, I more than make up for with my ability to sit in a darkened room watching stuff. I want to give some kind of award for including a reference to the Castle Anthrax scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Nice to know that I probably wasn’t the only person who had a couple of jokey throwaway  lines from a comedy film seared permanently into their brain after watching that.

"You must tie her down on a bed and spank her. You must spank her well, and after you are done with her, you may deal with her as you like... and then... spank me."
"And me. And me too. And me."
"Yes. Yes, you must give us all a good spanking. And after the spanking... the oral sex."

This is Katherine Deane’s first solo book and she has certainly hit the ground running*. I am really, really looking forward to whatever she writes next. It’s not that often that you encounter a book which had you laughing out loud one minute, blinking back the tears the next and then becoming incredibly hot and bothered by the sexy, sexy descriptions of two lovely people getting to know one another in the best possible way** a minute or so after that. Katherine Deane delivers all that and more, here.

She sounds pretty knowledgeable about the sports side of things too which will probably make it even more enjoyable if you’re actually into that sort of thing.

Although, to be honest, I’m not sure I could have enjoyed this book more than I did. It was just about perfect.

* Hahahahahahahaha! Hit the ground running! I didn’t even do that on purpose! I’m like some kind of punning genius!

** For the avoidance of doubt, the best possible way is spanking, obviously. Sex comes second.

Spanking Romance reviews my book!

The delightful and (almost certainly) fragrant Katherine Deane has written such a lovely review of Lady Westbrook's Discovery on Spanking Romance Reviews that I have half a mind to print out a couple of dozen copies and post it through all my neighbour's letterboxes.

On the off-chance that (a) you don't live within 10 yards of my house and (b) I don't actually do that anyway, you should head immediately over to Spanking Romance Reviews and read it there.

And then - if you haven't already, you should buy the book itself. Because as Katherine says "This story was hilarious and sexy, and quite unique among the spanking romance stories I have read." And you better listen to her, she's a dude who knows what she's talking about.

Much like Rufus

Get ready for Katherine Deane's launch party!

Dig out your best best frock - or quite possibly your favourite sweatpants and sports top - because tomorrow is Katherine Deane's Coach's Discipline Launch Party.

And you know what they say: "There ain't no party like a sports-themed spanking romance party!" Seriously, that's literally all anybody says round here. It's a massive relief to finally get to go to one.

The party kicks off at 10am Mountain Time (Mountain time! That's such a cool name for a time zone. It sounds like a kid's TV show).

Hey everybody! Get ready for Mountain Time!

Excitingly that means that I'll be able to participate from over here in this time zone without having to stay up until 3 in the morning like I would have done for the Sons of Johnny Hastings launch party. I get to hang out with the cool kids!

Katherine and Spanking Romance Reviews - who are hosting the party - will be giving away lots of cool prizes, one of which is the extremely cool Lady Westbrook's Discovery. You definitely want to try and win that. It's pretty damn awesome. There are also book prizes from Cara Bristol, Casey McKay, Renee Rose, Tara Finnegan, Natasha Knight and Patricia Green.

I'm really looking forward to reading Coach's Discipline. Even though sports are sooo not my thing, I like the idea of a sports coach as a hero in spanking romance. The line between personal trainer and dominant is already wafer thin. Those guys are all about pushing people to their limits. And inflicting pain obviously - although personally, I would happily take a spanking over a workout any day of the week.

Synopsis:
Claire Jacobs always dreamed of making it to the Olympic Trials in the marathon. Unfortunately, she has a habit of getting in her own way. Enter Nick Fox, a no-nonsense coach, willing to use unconventional methods to bring her in line. Traumatized by her last coach and still recovering from self-destructive habits, Claire finds it hard to trust Nick’s authority about what she can and can’t handle on the trails. Still, her attraction for him deepens, even when she discovers he believes in good old-fashioned spanking as a method of correction.

As Nick spends more time with Claire, she enchants him with her drive and deep commitment to help her fellow runners. But when she gets into an argument with a teammate, he realizes he only has one option—to give the talented woman he cares about the first spanking of her life, a spanking that is not going to be fun for either of them.
Claire and Nick grow closer and she comes to crave Nick’s dominance and direction. Discovering the emotional healing and strength to succeed during training, she moves past her shyness and self-doubt to step into a leading role with the young women on the team. But when team politics, jealousy and misunderstandings create drama, will she revert back to her old pattern of running away? Or can she learn to trust in love and race toward her goals with an open heart?
See you there this Saturday!

R is for Rancher

This post is part of the Spanking A-Z Blog Challenge. What's that I hear you ask? Check out my page here for more information.
Those sexy, sexy bastard sons of Johnny Hastings are back on my blog again. I don't seem to be able to keep those swaggering bare-chested lunks off of the place.

(I don't really think they're swaggering or lunky by the way. I suspect the boys wouldn't take kindly to be described that way if they heard me. Especially if this post on Katherine Deane's blog is anything to go by. Seriously if you haven't read that yet, go and read it now. I'll wait. It is quite possibly the best thing on the whole internet. (Sorry about that, lolcats.) Katherine interviews all five sons of Johnny Hastings with inevitable consequences. First time I read it, I immediately went back and read it again. Then again. And then I had to have a bit of a lie down.)

Not pictured: scolding
Today's son of Johnny Hastings is Matt Caine, the hero of Mary Wehr's To Have and To Scold. This was the first of the Johnny Hastings boxset I read and it is absolutely delightful. The heroine, Maggie has been sweet on her neighbour, Matt since she was young but he has always considered her something of an annoying brat. Which she was, to be fair. But once she's all grown-up and in trouble then Matt is just the very man to come to her rescue. And the first thing he needs to do in order to free her from her wicked stepmother's plans is to make an honest woman of her...
Matt rapped on the door and a short, rotund woman answered the knock. She stared at him wide-eyed and pulled her wrapper tighter around her thick waist.
"Tell the Preacher Matt Caine's here to see him." She hesitated and he fixed his face into what he hoped was a no nonsense glare. Frightening the woman out of her wits had not been his intention, but it certainly made her move faster.
The door closed sharply and Annie giggled. "I think you scared her."
Matt bent his head, his expression unyielding. "She's not the one who has reason to be afraid," he remarked sternly. "You're the one who has a spanking coming and I haven't forgotten." He arched a brow in question. "Do you still want me as your husband knowing what's going to happen? Be sure, Annie, because once you got my name, there'll be no turning back. This marriage is for keeps. No divorce, no annulment. I promise to love you and take care of you, but I also intend to run my household with a firm hand." He must be addle-headed. Why was he deliberately trying to scare her? She already said yes to his proposal. Cripes, what if she changed her mind? He'd be lost.
Annie appeared puzzled. "But I'll be your wife. Men don't spank their wives, do they?"
It was time he enlightened Annie on the ways of the world.
Five brothers with not a shirt between them.
Synopsis:

Annie’s sweet on her neighbor, Matthew Caine, but the stern rancher treats her like a bratty child instead of a woman. Each encounter always ends with a trip over his knee.
Matthew’s fed up with Annie’s childish behavior. Her latest prank ruined a brand new pair of boots! While he sets her britches on fire, he refers to her as a nuisance and warns her to leave him alone. For once in her life, Annie obeys.

‘Bratty’ Annie has grown into a beautiful woman and Matthew realizes that he’s fallen in love with her, but she’s unsure of his feelings. When he learns about her stepmother’s evil plan to marry her off to a man Annie despises in order to settle a debt, he steps in and takes her to wife.

Annie’s happy to be married to the man of her dreams and learns that no matter what her age, her disobedience and sass will be dealt with an old-fashioned spanking.
