The Flappiness of Floggers

Flappy
Not surprisingly, when I meet other kinksters, the conversation often turns to the subject of favourite and least favourite spanking implements. It's a tricky one to answer. It's only been a year and a half since spanking became something that actually happened in my life (rather than something that I just thought about obsessively) and the the novelty really hasn't come close to wearing off yet. I am still surprised and delighted that people are prepared to spend time spanking me with anything at all. Not least because as a non-switchy type, I have no idea what they're getting out of it. I would be bored after five minutes. Yet I seem to have found a bunch of people who have not only been happy to spend hours using a whole load of different spanky toys on my arse but also seem to be enjoying themselves. Although I can't believe that they're having as much fun as I am.

This is pretty much how I look post-spanking.
I do like a thuddy toy. I think paddles are my all-time favourite thing. But it's all about the variety, really. You can't beat a bit of stinginess; I'm terribly fond of canes. The stingiest thing I've ever been hit with was a dressage whip. That hurt. But, as with all stingy things, the pain went away quite quickly unlike with thuddy things where the pain just keeps on building.

Ouchy
When it comes to my least favourite implement though, then that's definitely the flogger. They're just so annoyingly flappy. I know lots of people are very keen on them but I find them quite irritating. Largely because a lot of the time they're not being used to cause pain. I like pain. I don't really do 'sensation play'. If I'm on the receiving end of a light flogging, there's a bit of me thinking "Oh, come on. I'm not after a massage here." I don't want to be lightly caressed.

Caress-y

Of course, floggers can hurt as has been demonstrated on me on a number of occasions. But even then, it's not the right kind of pain. It's all sort of unfocused and all over the place. It doesn't connect in the same way that a paddle or a cane or well-aimed hand does.

Now, I am fully accepting of the fact that I am going to be flogged. I haven't had a Spanking Friend who hasn't used a flogger on me. Doms love a flogger. I understand that they are quite satisfying to wield. And I don't mind them. As part of an overall spanking experience, they're fine.

Definitely not my favourite though. If I had a spanking which only consisted of a hand-spanking and a flogging, I think I would feel quite unsatisfied at the end. Whereas I would be entirely content with just "hand spanking and paddling", I reckon. Or "hand spanking and caning".

I admit I'm being a bit unreasonable as 'flogger' covers a wide variety of different kinky spank-toys. Big, small, leather, suede, rubber. Googling for flogger images has revealed that Uberkinky have a metal ball chain flogger that they describe as having "serious bite". Yes, I'm sure it does.

Bitey
Current Gentleman Spanking Friend recently purchased a pink plastic flogger. It's bright and cheerful and looks like the sort of thing you'd be able to buy in the gift shop at Chessington World of Adventures. That flogger wasn't flappy and ineffectual at all. It had quite the sting to it. Rather too much, as it goes, as our first go had to be curtailed due to the damn thing cutting my skin. Because personally while I'm all about the pain, drawing blood is never on the to-do list during a spanking.

He's made some adjustments to the end of the tails which were causing the problem so hopefully it'll be back in play for his next visit. With the literal rough edges taken care of, it's definitely a flogger that I would be happy to spend more time with. I don't think it undermines my "not really liking floggers" point though. I think if you put this particular flogger on a Spanking Implements Venn Diagram (and I really need to start constructing a Spanking Implements Venn Diagram) then it would be in the bit where floggers and whips overlap.

Not flappy
Incidentally, Current Gentleman Spanking Friend has named this particular item 'Felicia'. Because apparently naming one's spanking implements is a Thing That Doms Do. I remain unconvinced. I think he's a strange man. But, hey, whatever makes him happy. I'm not about to judge other people's weirdness.

There are so, so many different kinds of implements out there to be spanked with. From the hastily improvised to the meticulously crafted by artisan perverts. I went to the London Alternative Market fetish fair recently. My goodness, there an awful lot of things you can buy which have been specifically designed to be used on a willing sub. And, frankly, I'm happy to try most of them. It really is a most delightful journey. Bring it on! The thuddy, the slappy, the stingy, the whippy and, yes on occasion, the annoyingly flappy.

Bad Neighbours

Of course, this movie was just called "Neighbors" in the US.
I assume they changed it for us Brits, because "Neighbours" would just make us think of a certain Australian soap opera, Kylie Minogue and the ear-wormiest theme song in the history of ever.

I've mentioned before that spanking is a noisy business. Unless you have some kind of fully soundproofed spank dungeon, I'm sure you're aware that the application of a stout wooden paddle to a fleshy backside can have a bit of a reverberating sound to it. (Incidentally, if you do have a fully soundproofed spank dungeon, can I borrow it sometime, please?)

I live in a block of flats so I potentially have three lots of neighbours who might be disturbed by the sounds of the occasional spanky shenanigans which occur round my place. Because my apartments are relatively newly built and because I never hear what my neighbours are up to (and I'm not just talking about kinky stuff), I like to kid myself that noise-wise my home is pretty well insulated. Still, even if it isn't, I never see my neighbours. It's not like we need to make awkward chitchat while washing our cars or weeding our front gardens.

Nicer people than me are probably more concerned about disturbing their neighbours. My current gentleman spanker friend was very aware of how noisy the whole business was when we were round his house the other day. Happily, that didn't stop him having at it with gusto. Apart from the occasional "ow", "ouch" or "fucking hell!", I'm not a particularly noisy spankee. But, like I said, the sound of wood or leather or a an open palm enthusiastically applied to a willing arse, well it's not exactly quiet, is it?

In the right hands, this hairbrush can make a lot of noise.
Later on in the evening we were chilling out and cuddling and watching Doctor Who (in fact I think we were literally "Netflix and Chill"ing. You know like cool young people do. Unless I've hopelessly misunderstood that particular meme) when there was a ring at his doorbell. He was all "Who the hell is calling at at 10 o'clock in the evening?"

I was briefly worried that I might have to reassure some well-meaning neighbours that my friend wasn't imprisoning and beating some poor hapless woman against her will. Luckily, they were just handing over a parcel which had been delivered earlier that day.

Thing is, the parcel in question was a leather gladiator kilt. And it was entirely clear from the
packaging exactly what it was. (Poor show, leatheraddicts.com, have you never heard of discretion?)

Maybe don't get this delivered to your mum's house.
Gentleman spanking friend is convinced that not only do his neighbours now know that he's a pervert, but that they spent the evening discussing when was best to drop the package off. "Shall we take it round now, do you think?" "Best not, just at the moment. He sounds busy." Then politely waiting until there was a lull in the spanking noises before nipping round.

Oh I hope my kinks don't make me un-neighbourly. I try to be a nice person. I don't drop litter, I recycle, I buy copious amounts of sweets every Halloween just in case (even though Trick or Treating isn't something that ever happens round these parts). If I am a nuisance, I'd like to think that at the very least, it might give the neighbours something to chat to one another about. "Oh hello, Doris. You know her at number 9? Well, you'd never guess what she gets up to. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if she planted some pampas grass outside her house. You never know with those types."

Saturday Spankings - "She could not possibly be expected to take any more"

Yeah, the usual SatSpanks pictures comes with crowns and riding crops this week. I think it's some kind of "Triple Crown" horseriding thing. Doesn't explain why there's FOUR crowns, mind.

Hello Spankos!

It's that that time of the week again when we are literally ALL about the Spanking snippets.

Let's carry on from where we left off last time, shall we?

This snippet is from my Corbin's Bend book East End Girl. Kirsty - a hitherto 'sexy spanks only' girl is receiving her first purely disciplinary spanking from her boyfriend, Logan.

Each thwack of the paddle felt like it was generating pain right down to her very bones.
Every time the paddle was brought down, Kirsty thought it must be the last blow she could possibly stand. That she could not possibly be expected to take any more. Yet Logan brought the paddle down again and she found that she could withstand it. But only just.
She was sobbing unreservedly. The bed beneath her face was soaked with her tears. She wanted to scream at him to stop. She felt like she would do anything to make him stop. Except - it turned out – actually ask him to. She needed him to know that she could willingly submit to any punishment he thought necessary.

Want more of this sort of thing? Buy the book!

Saturday Spankings - "Ow!"

Saturday Spankings Bloghop: "If you're a reader who likes stories with with a touch of corporal punishment, this is the hop for you."
Hello spankos! It's Saturday again and quite frankly, it's not a proper Saturday without eight(ish) sexy sentences of a spanky nature. (Well maybe it is for some people. But those people's Saturdays could be improved hugely with some awesome spanky snippets because the stuff my fellow bloghoppers post is usually super hot!)

Last week I included a snippet where East End Girl's Kirsty was being instructed by Logan to get into position for her first disciplinary spanking. Let's see how that spanking goes, shall we?

Spankings! Romance! Spankings!
The crack of the paddle hitting her flesh was far louder than Kirsty had anticipated. The loud retort made her jump before she had even registered the pain of the first swat. As soon as the sting of the swat hit home her attention was entirely focused on that. “Ow!” she cried as Logan brought the paddle down again and again over her exposed bottom.
The pain was completely different from anything that she had experienced during their previous spankings. There was no give in the unforgiving plastic and each thwack of the paddle made her cry out in pain. The speed at which Logan was cracking the paddle against her backside, gave her no chance to get used to the swats before the next one came crashing down.
Kirsty grabbed the bed sheets in her fists as she cried out in pain, willing herself not to move from the position she had been told to get into. She wanted to demonstrate that she could take this punishment willingly. That she knew she deserved it.

And if for some reason you managed to miss the whole of Corbin's Bend Season 2 and want to rectify that massive gaping hole in your life - especially as Corbin's Bend Season 3 is now underway - you can purchase boxsets of the second season - Part One (which has my book in it) and Part Two (which doesn't). I'm not saying my book is the best one but it is definitely the one with the most amount of swearing.

Go on. You deserve it.

Spanky Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Well, those of you who celebrate it, anyway. Of course the really cool people don't bother with the consumerist celebration  of romantic cliches headed by the Patron Saint of beekeepers and epileptics.

Why yes, I am single. What was your first clue?

I forgot to sign up to Saturday Spankings this week because I am rubbish. Especially rubbish this week given that Valentine's Day is the best day possible to mention Love In The Rockies, the Valentines Day-themed Corbin's Bend boxset featuring stories by Constance Masters, Kate Richards, Thianna D, Kathryn R Blake and Ruth Staunton. And me, of course.

All the stories in the collection feature characters from previous Corbin's Bend books and are all themed on Valentines Day. So it's pretty much beekeeping and epilepsy all the way.

If you haven't read it yet, go on and buy it now. You deserve it. It can be a Valentine's gift to yourself. Everyone knows they're the very best kind of Valentine gifts.

Not only is there Love In The Rockies to get you all Valentinesy and Corbin's Bendsy, there's also a lovely Corbin's Bend story My Charming Valentine by Maggie Ryan which right now costs absolutely zero dollars to purchase (that's equal to zero pounds in British money, UK readers.)

Of course, some people choose to spend Valentine's Day doing this sort of thing.
Which is fine if you're into naked kissing. Can't see the appeal myself.

So let's have a snippet from The Perfect Housewife, my contribution to the collection featuring Kirsty and Logan from East End Girl.

This takes place about a week before Valentine's Day. Kirsty is about to be punished.
Logan sat down on the edge of the bed and beckoned Kirsty towards him. She stood in front of him her eyes nervously darting to the paddle which lay on the bed. Logan grabbed hold of the back of Kirsty’s thighs and pulled her closer. He unbuttoned the tight black pants she was wearing and then pulled down the zipper. He yanked her pants down to her knees and then pushed her panties down to meet them.
“Lie over my lap,” he commanded.
Kirsty awkwardly positioned herself over his knees, the clothing bunched at her knees making it difficult to maneuver herself.
Once she was over, Logan pushed her head down further towards the ground so that her butt was raised high in the air. “I’m going to give you twelve swats,” he told her. “I want you to count them out loud.”
Kirsty gave the smallest of nods and within seconds the first swat of the paddles came crashing down on her naked backside. “One,” she said.
“One, sir.” said Logan.
“One, sir,” said Kirsty. Logan had never insisted that she call him ‘sir’ before but given the position she was currently in, she wasn’t about to argue with him.
A second blow came swiftly down forcefully hitting the other cheek. “Two, sir,” said Kirsty, gasping slightly. The paddle didn’t just hurt where it struck her flesh, the pain seemed to right down to her bones. She wondered how on earth she was going to withstand ten more. Logan brought the paddle swiftly down on the lower part of her buttocks. The force of the swat brought tears to Kirsty’s eyes and she instinctively gripped hold of Logan’s leg. It took a moment for her to manage to get any words out at all. When the pain had subsided just enough for her to speak, she counted the blow as she had been told to. “Three, sir.”
Come on, you can do this, she reassured herself, you’ve had worse spankings before

Have a wonderful Saturdays, everyone, doing whatever it is that makes you happiest. Personally, I'm just happy that I've managed to avoid being told off by Corbin's Bend author-wrangler, Thianna D. I'm not sure what the consequences would have been for failing to mention Love in The Rockies on Valentines Day but given the woman's taste in paddles, I really don't think I would be willing to risk finding out.

It's called the tenderizer. For obvious reasons.

Saturday Spankings - “Begin the spanking”

Time for a spanking!
Happy Saturday, fellow spankos!

As I may have mentioned once or twice, my new book East End Girl came out this week. It's the fifth book in Corbin's Bend Season 2 and so far, people seem to be saying very nice things about it. Which is a relief. There's a lot of pressure in joining a successful series like this. You don't want to be responsible for the book that makes people say "I really enjoyed all the books in the series UNTIL THAT ONE."

This week's snippet takes place during Kirsty's public disciplinary session. Because if I was going to write a Corbin's Bend book, I definitely wanted to include a public paddling. It's one of the things that makes Corbin's Bend Corbin's Bend.

Buy it now. Yes, right now. Drop everything.

Charles’s voice boomed out “Begin the spanking” and Kirsty steeled herself for the worst minutes of her life.

After only ten swats Kirsty felt like she couldn’t take any more. Her backside ached and throbbed from the hard spanks that Logan had administered. She had no idea how she was going to get through the next twenty.
Logan brought the paddle down with slightly less force on the eleventh swat. Kirsty, staring straight ahead, saw Charles shake his head ‘no’, disallowing the blow.Kirsty wanted to scream at him. Wasn’t this enough for him? Was the pain and the humiliation she was already suffering not sufficient? He needed to add more?
Check out the rest of the Saturday Spankers on the list below. Have lovely weekends, all of you.

Book Review - Chemistry of Attraction by Thianna D

Want to know more about the book review star rating system? Or find out what other books I've reviewed? Check out this page here.

Five Stars!

The new season of Corbin's Bend has begun! You might not have realised that books could come in seasons, but the big spanky juggernaut that is Corbin's Bend can do what it damn well pleases. Thank goodness. It's already breaking new ground as quite possibly the Longest Running Multi-Author Spanking Romance Series. Has anyone been onto Guinness World Records about that?

In the interests of full disclosure (and in the interests of mentioning again because I can still barely believe it), I am one of the authors of the the Corbin's Bend Season 2 collection. My book East End Girl will be coming out in early December.

That's not the only reason why I'm so excited about the first book in the new season, mind you. I was getting stupidly excited about Corbin's Bend long before I managed to sneak into the gang like a fiercely determined groupie.

Thianna D's Chemistry of Attraction has just been released and is a fantastic start to the new season. You kind of knew it would be, though. The girl's got form. Thianna is the brain (and almost certainly the looks) behind the whole Corbin's Bend project. She wrote the first book in the series, Finding Their Bliss  and the last book in Season One, a sweet little prequel Where They Both Belong which took us right back to the beginning of the World's Only Spanking-based community.

Not sure what she's doing to that flower. Maybe it's a chemist thing.
In Chemistry of Attraction, we meet ex-marine Brandon Delt who has just moved to Corbin's Bend in order to study music and move on with his life following his divorce. Brandon is friends with Benjamin Steppings - the lovely Jonathon's other half - and it's always nice to see more of Benjamin and Jonathan. I liked seeing Benjamin leap to Jonathon's defence when somebody rudely criticised his autumnal decorations. That's gallantry right there for you.

Brandon has a few issues in his life to deal with - including a painful arthritic condition that often makes walking difficult - not to mention the fact that his ex-wife has moved on with her life by marrying his own cousin. Luckily he meets the delightful - if slightly gauche - Carodine, a newly-graduated chemistry major who has come to visit her grandparents in Corbin's Bend for a while in an attempt to relax before she finds herself a job. He doesn't muck about does Brandon. It only takes a minute or so for Brandon to decide that Carodine is a woman he wants to spend more time with and he sets about ensuring that that is exactly what happens.

At the time of their first meeting, Carodine has only just discovered the unique Just-For-Spankos flavour of Corbin's Bend (which is a slightly awkward conversation to have with your grandparents, I reckon). She doesn't know if she's into the idea of discipline but wanting to free herself of residual guilt, she's willing to give it a go.

How many women is that now who have wandered into Corbin's Bend with no idea of its spanking credentials before discovering that spanking is just the very thing they needed after all? She must be the fourth at least. I think there must be something in the Corbin's Bend water.

They have some pretty spectacular water in Colorado
The relationship that Brandon and Carodine embark on threatens to become derailed a few times, not least because Carodine seems to have some pretty major hangups about sex. Brandon helps her overcome her prudish preconceptions and persuades her that enjoying sex is not only OK, it's a fantastic idea all round. The biggest threat, however, comes from the fact that Carodine is only supposed to be staying in Corbin's Bend for a few months and although the two of them try to convince themselves that they would be happy with just a summer fling, it becomes increasingly obvious that neither of them want the relationship to end.

The spankings Brandon  dishes out range from the rather sweet and tentative spanking that he gives her on their first date in order to assuage her curiosity ("Could you show me how it feels? If you wouldn't mind.") to a rather firm disciplinary punishment which carries its own hidden message via a very special paddle.

Brandon is a slightly unusual romance hero, what with his gammy leg and being completely bald head - all the better to show off his cranial Celtic tattoo. Every time I look at the book cover, he reminds me of Karl Howman which will mean absolutely nothing to most of my readership unless Brush Strokes and Babes in the Wood became somehow hugely popular in the US and I really, really hope that they didn't. Because sometimes we British make really, really good groundbreaking television. And sometimes we make terrible sitcoms with Karl Howman in them.

In a recent Corbin's Bend blog post, Thianna said that the movie star who should play Brandon is Vin Diesel.

Vin Diesel may in fact be exact opposite of Karl Howman. It's kind of a relief really.
Karl Howman / Vin Diesel Venn Diagram. Not even slightly overlapping.
Chemistry of Attraction is an absolutely lovely start to the new season of spanky Corbin's Bend adventures. The heroes are interesting, flawed, believable and very likeable. The story also provides some fascinating opportunities to get to some of the Corbin's Bend regulars - like Carodin;s grandparents Jason and Rose Rolson and of course, Jonathon and Benjamin - a little better.

Tara Finnegan (author of Season One's Exile To Unity) is supplying the next book in the series, His Forever Summer which will be available on the 22nd of October. After Chemistry of Attraction, I would say she has a tough act to follow, but given how much I enjoyed her previous Corbin's Bend book (even if it did have me sobbing in the bath at one point), I am certain that Tara is woman enough for the task.
