"I intend to chastise her severely"

I mentioned yesterday that I am currently working on a book. I thought I'd share a bit of it with you. It is tentatively called 'Fair Play' but that might well change because I am rubbish at titles.

London. 1890. Flora Taylor's world changes when her brother and his lover are arrested for Gross Indecency. Luckily their good friend and solicitor William Beech is ready to defend them against the charges. As Flora gets to know Mr Beech better, she discovers the Spider Club and an exciting BDSM underworld that appeals to all the desires she has kept hidden for so long.

It's a M/F romance/ But there's a bit of F/F spanky action too when one of the Spider Club regulars, Lady Jevington, decides that she is need of some serious discipline.

Lady Jevington strode into the drawing room with a thunderous look upon her face. She addressed
William: “Sir, your submissive has been making too free with her tongue and saying things she ought not.”

Flora was quick to reply. “Lady Jevington, please forgive me. I should not have mentioned you by name during the trial. I am truly sorry.”

“Silence, child. I am talking to your Master,” snapped Lady Jevington. “Mr B, I demand that you hand your charge over to me so that I may take her in hand.”

“What do you intend to do with her?” asked William.

“I intend to chastise her severely. She will have the punishment of her life. She obviously requires harsh discipline to ensure that she never commits such an error again.”

“Madame, I will not have my submissive hit in anger.”

Lady Jevington’s furious expression melted away in a moment and a warm smile took its place. “My dears, I am only playing of course. That’s all this ever is - a delightful game. I don’t care that my name has been mentioned in connection with the Ravener Trial. I am rich enough and independent enough to withstand the scandal. In fact, I rather think the notoriety will increase my social standing.”

Flora let out an audible breath.

“However,” continued Lady Jevington, the hardness creeping back into her voice. “This was not your submissive’s decision to make. I alone should have decided when I wished to my proclivities public. That control was taken away from me and I want it back. I want to punish Miss X. It won’t be done in anger. It will be calm, measured and done with a great deal of affection. I am very fond of the girl. She needs this correction for her own good.” Lady Jevington turned to Flora and addressed her directly. “As I said, my dear, it is just a game. But it is a game I take very seriously. I play hard.”

The book isn't quite finished yet but hopefully, you won't have too long to wait. In the mean time, you could always go and check out some of my existing books. Happy reading!

WIP It Up Wednesday - "I think of the most terrible things"

WIPping in action
Well, this is all very new and exciting - I have never partaken in a WIP It Up Wednesday before. Sure, I've lurked on other people's but that's hardly the same. Right here, right now, I am surrendering my Wipster Virginity.

The story I'm sharing with you today has barely been started. I've actually got two more books to finish before I can get stuck into it. But I wanted to share it because it'll be the third instalment of what I'll call my "Westbrook Trilogy" (you know when I'm giving interviews on arts programmes and stuff). There are all stand alone books set in Victorian England which are connected by the Westbrook family. Lord Westbrook's Muse came out last week - you should go and check it out!). This WIP is nominally titled "The Westbrook Trial" (although that will almost certainly change - I'm rubbish at titles.)

Lord Westbrook's brother, Jasper Westbrook has been arrested along with his lover, Charles Taylor because this is 1878 and being in love with another man is enough to land you in prison. This isn't Jasper and Charles's story though. I don't think I'm ready to try a M/M romance just yet.

This is the story of Charles's sister, Flora - who is determined to help her brother in any way she can - and William Beech, a solicitor and very close friend of Charles and Jasper.

This scene below takes place just after the arrest of her brother. Flora is in shock and it leads to her making a very revealing confession to William.

“Here, drink this,” said William, passing Miss Taylor a glass of brandy. She accepted the drink and took several large sips, becoming noticeably calmer as she did so. “I understand that it must be hard for you to accept your brother’s predilections.

Miss Taylor shook her head. “That isn’t it. I don’t blame Charles for wanting to be with Mr Westbrook.. I know others consider them abnormal but who am I to judge what is normal? I often have feelings which I am sure would horrify you, Mr Beech.”

William looked at the slender beauty sitting in his study and doubted that she was capable of saying anything that could horrify him. “Surely not, Miss Taylor,” he said.

“It’s true,” she replied. “When I think of love, I think of the most terrible things.”

“What on earth do you mean?” asked William gently.

Miss Taylor finished off the brandy in her glass. William refilled it, sensing that the liquor was probably giving her the courage to talk to him.

She took another sip immediately and began haltingly to speak, her eyes focused on the floor by her feet. “I like to imagine women being punished,” she said in a voice almost too quiet to hear. “I think about women being spanked or caned or thrashed with a belt. It gives me ... pleasure when I think of it. And I like to think of those things being done to me. How I would feel if someone struck me in that way.” She took another gulp of brandy. “So you can see why I cannot possibly condemn Charles. My own perversions are so much worse. I fear there must be something dreadfully wrong with me to think the things that I do. Forgive me, Mr Beech, if I have disgusted you.”

Of the dozens of emotions that Miss Taylor’s words had fired up inside of him, William could quite confidently say that not a single one came close to disgust.

His heart thumping, he stood up and walked to his bookshelf from where he removed a slim volume in a plain cover.

“I think you are too hard on yourself, Miss Taylor,” he said. “Perhaps you would like to take a look at this.”

Miss Taylor took the book and looked at the page to which he had opened it. Her eyes widened in shock.

He had chosen a page with which he was very familiar. It contained an illustration of a woman was bent over a man’s lap, her skirts and petticoats thrown over her back and her bare bottom prominently on display. The man held in his hand a bundle of birch twigs which he held poised ready to strike the woman across her exposed posterior. The welts across her back side showed that the man had already delivered several stinging blows. The woman’s mouth was open in protest but she did not appear to be struggling to escape. Indeed, the pose in which she had been drawn suggested that she was actually lifting her bottom into the air as if presenting it for more punishment.

Miss Taylor stared at the picture, trembling slightly. Looking at her reaction, William suddenly felt like a heel for exposing her to such an image. She was a well-brought up young lady. What had he been thinking? He went to remove the book from her hands. “Forgive me,” he said. “That was exceedingly inappropriate. I should not have shown you such a thing. Please don’t be alarmed.”

As he moved to remove the book from her hands, Miss Taylor gripped the book tighter. “I am not alarmed,” she said, her eyes still riveted to the picture. “Mr Beech, this drawing – it must have taken many hours to complete, don’t you think?”

“I imagine so.”

“And then somebody printed it and bound it and someone – you – bought it. And all so that people could see this picture of this woman getting her backside thrashed like this?”

“Yes.”

Miss Taylor looked at him, her eyes shining. “Then other people feel the same way I do? I am not the only one?”

I will actually be breaking away from my spanky Victorian romance niche for my next book which is a contemporary romance and part of the Corbin's Bend series. Until then you should check out all my spanky Victorian romances below. Go on, you'll like them.

I'm going down to Corbin's Bend, gonna have myself a time

Very, very exciting news! I am going to join the ranks of the prestigious collection of writers who have written stories for the Corbin's Bend series.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with Corbin's Bend. In which case you need to know that (a) it's a series of standalone stories set in a fictitious spanking community  in the Colorado mountains written by some great authors including Thianna D, Tara Finnegan and Cara Bristol. And that  (b) there are clearly some worrying gaps in your spanking romance book knowledge which you need to rectify right now.

I am only just beginning my book. One of the most important things about writing for an already established series such as Corbins Bend is maintaining the integrity of the overall narrative.

With that in mind I have decided that the heroine of my story has decided to move to Corbin's Bend in order to start a new life in a supportive community. Only once she has moved in she finds that Corbin's Bend is actually the secret headquarters for a hyper-advanced group of shape-shifting aliens who are using the housing co-operative as a front for their evil alienesque plans which include world domination, terrible jam-making, competitive dance-offs and the global rollout of laser-equipped robot squirrels. Our heroine has to track down their reclusive half-lizard leader who is sequestered at the Belgian National Bank (she deduces his hideout after she cunningly realises that 'Corbin's Bend' is an anagram of 'Consider BNB').Weird lizardy alien spankings naturally ensue.

Robot Squirrel.

I mean it's a little different to the synopsis I originally pitched but I am sure it will be totally fine.

I will keep you informed of my progress. (By which time, my excitement may have worn off sufficiently for me to calm down and stop making ridiculous shit up.)

Saturday Spankings - Agreeing to be punished

Happy Saturday, everyone! If you saw my post yesterday, you will know that I am participating in the Spanking A-Z Blog Challenge in the month of June. I really hope you will come and check out all my alphabet-related posts. I'm starting on Sunday 1st June with - rather controversially - the letter 'A'.

Todays Saturday Spankings snippet comes from my current work in progress. In the story, stuffy Lord Westbrook (son of the Lady Westbrook who stars in my forthcoming book) has become acquainted with unconventional free spirit, Cass - a proud member of the Women's Suffrage Society and advocate of the Rational Dress Movement.

Cass jokingly suggested to Lord Westbrook that she deserved to be punished for an earlier embarrassing incident. Their walk has brought them to a now-empty gardener's cottage on his Lordship's grounds where he intends to take her at her word.

“You suggested earlier that I should punish you for your bad behaviour,” Lord Westbrook said. “I think that’s an excellent idea. We will not be disturbed here.”
“How do you intend to do that?”  Cass asked.
Was that a flicker of a smile she saw cross his stern features? “Oh, I think there is only one type of punishment suitable for this occasion. You deserve to be spanked. Do you agree?
She nodded cautiously.
“Very well then. Bend over the edge of the bed.”

Remember to check out the rest of the Saturday Spankers below! And keep popping back here throughout June for alphabet-based spanking awesomeness!
